Happy Birthday, IVECCS! About 400 people signed up to attend the first meeting of IVECCS 20 years ago. This year's meeting will see more than 3,000 attendees — from veterinarians and technicians to students and exhibitors.

Show Coverage: Sessions and Special Events
Dr. Roger Gfeller Memorial Golf Tournament IVECCS attendees and exhibitors, VECCS and ACVECC members and other veterinary personnel, family members and guests competed at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort golf course yesterday to benefit the Roger Gfeller Memorial Scholarship Fund at KSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Approximately 40 people attended the golf tournament and more than $15,000 was raised in this event. Read more
VECCF volunteers put on free spay/neuter clinic Veterinarians and technicians from around the world volunteered their time and expertise ahead of the IVECCS conference to take part in a 3-day free spay/neuter clinic at three local Indian reservations.
The clinics were organized by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Foundation (VECCF) to help control the companion animal population on the reservations. Only dogs and cats owned by reservation residents were admitted. Read more
More research needed for vasopressin use in veterinary medicine Exogenous vasopressin plays a role in treating a number of serious conditions in humans, including cardiac arrest, cardiovascular shock, diabetes insipidus, von Willebrands disease and serious gastrointestinal diseases, such as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis.

Pain: a universal component of critical illness Participants in Wednesday's Analgesia Lab, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, rotated through three stations that presented scenarios and hands-on technical experience emphasizing the importance of teamwork to provide optimal analgesia to critically ill animals. VECCS Executive Profile: President
Harold Davis, RVT, VTS Veterinary technician Harold Davis has spent most of his 30-year career making history.
In 1992, Harold was part of the organizing committee and later served as president of the first veterinary technician specialty academy, promoting the professional advancement of technicians nationwide. In 2004, he was asked to present the inaugural Jack L. Mara Memorial Lecture at the NAVC Conference, an honor now given annually to a notable technician. The following year, Harold helped conceptualize and plan the first National Conference of Veterinary Technician Specialty Academies.
